THE BLOCK 2020 - BRIGHTON

Front yard and façade week

In our second year working on Channel 9’s The Block, we were selected by Luke and Jasmine from House 4 and WA to be their landscaper, alongside Steve Taylor (COS Design) who would Design the spaces. It’s exciting enough already getting to work on The Block, but getting to create a Front and Back yard designed by COS Design added additional excitement.

The house is from the 1910’s and Luke and Jasmine had incorporated plenty of curves within the house, so this was carried out into the front garden, with curves in the lawn, water feature (from Water Features Direct) and the curved concrete bench seat (from Hungry Wolf Studio) which sat atop the, Council required, rain garden.

Part of the Front Yard week including completing the front façade and we were fortunate that Luke and Jasmine had selected Ian and his team from IJM Constructions as their builder, and they worked tirelessly to get it completed beautifully.

The randomness of the paving (from Anston Architectural Paving) was one of the nice features for the front yard, along with the four Living Pergola Plane Trees which were planted in front of the brick wall, and will create a floating wall of green above the fence.

Scores of 9.5, 9.5 and 9 were great scores to get in what was a beautifully designed and constructed front garden.
